Jeff Weiss, CMT
Jeffrey Weiss, Chartered Market Technician, is President of JEFFSTREET, LLC. His interest in the stock market was sparked in the sixth grade when his math teacher gave each student $50,000 to invest. Jeff’s interest turned into fascination, as his dad drove him to the local brokerage office daily after school. At age 13 he committed his birthday money to the market, realizing a hefty gain in shares of Mattel Toy and purchasing a 3-speed bicycle with the proceeds for transportation to the local brokerage offices. Heady with his beginner’s luck, he’s been a student of the market for the five decades since.
His book, Relationship Investing – Stock Market Therapy For Your Money, uses life’s experiences and personal interactions as the common denominator to make the market’s movements and mannerisms relatable to all. This makes it particularly well-suited as an easily understandable and enjoyable text for audiences across the investing spectrum. The book also discusses risk management, the key in any investment approach and something that needs to be emphasized in the financial education arena. It was also named 2018’s “Best Investment Book of the Year” by the 2018 Stock Trader’s Almanac. Ron Insana, CNBC’s senior analyst and commentator, internationally recognized political consultant Doug Schoen, and award-winning author and Wall Street Journal writer Gregory Zuckerman were among the respected individuals contributing recommendations.
Jeff has been a member of the Market Technicians Association since 1984, from which he earned his Chartered Market Technician (CMT) designation in 1989. He’s been a featured guest on Wall Street Week with Louis Rukeyser and a keynote speaker for both the Money Management Institute (MMI) conference and Merrill Edge. In addition to speaking at the annual symposium for the Market Technician’s Association, Jeff was a featured presenter for Wells Fargo Advisors, Fidelity, and Bloomberg. He has appeared on CNBC’s Squawk Box, Fast Money, Talking Numbers, and Trading Nation shows. In addition to Bloomberg television and radio, Jeff has appeared on the Fox Business network. He’s been quoted in Barron’s and Barron’s On-Line. Jeff has addressed classes at Cornell University’s Graduate Business School, New York University’s Stern Business School, Muhlenberg College, Columbia Business School, Endicott College, and Southern Arkansas University as their Executive-In-Residence. He was the featured speaker for the American Institute of CPA’s (AICPA), and a guest presenter at the annual American Association of Individual Investors conference (AAII), the National Association of Active Investment Managers (NAAIM), and the National Association of Securities Professionals (NASP).
