Andy learned what many of us learn -- our children teach us in ways we never could anticipate. His son, Parker, who was born with developmental disabilities, has had a significant impact on his professional life. The genesis of the company Andy founded, Dialect, Inc. was an integration of what Andy learned as Parker's father and as a partner in an advertising agency. As a parent, Andy learned about the brain, development, strengths, and the value of understanding how differently we are “wired”. As an advertising executive, Andy noticed that often organizations weren't wired to deliver what they promised to customers and were often out of sync internally because there was no intentional, coherent system that tied departments and people together. The integration of a systems perspective for organizations and the cognitive filters of individuals led to the development of a model for promoting greater organizational alignment. Andy is a member of the NeuroLeadership Institute, TED, and the Association for Corporate Growth. Andy also serves as a board member of The St. Louis Arc, a non-profit agency dedicated to helping individuals with special needs and their families. Andy received his B.A. in Sociology from the University of Colorado and has completed behavioral training from the nationally-recognized Judevine Center. Dialect's clients include two divisions of Nestlé, Reinsurance Group of America (RGA), Ventura Foods, and Ready Pac Foods.

Calming Your Monkey Mind: The Power of Organizational Focus

Andy Kanefield

Our current work environments seem to be on a trajectory of greater and greater distraction with an explosion of goals, initiatives, and projects.

In this interactive session, Andy Kanefield will lead a discussion of how to promote greater focus in any organization. Andy will address 3 fundamental questions:

1. What do all organizations need to focus on?

2. What can we learn from neuroscience about how to lead people and help them focus more effectively?

3. How do we encourage those we lead to focus on the key drivers of value?

This session is ideal for teams who want a practical framework that shows the connections between all aspects of their business and can be used for getting and keeping everyone on the same page.
