YPO Innovation Week 2017


The Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO) is the premier leadership organization of chief executives in the world. YPO boasts more than 24,000 members across 450+ chapters in over 130 countries, with their membership diversified among numerous industries and types of businesses. A hotbed of networking and business development for its members as well as a source for learning, YPO’s global events are the cornerstone of their value proposition. Each year they celebrate Innovation Week—the world's largest and most impactful initiative that brings together some of the world’s most influential entrepreneurs, innovators, and thought-leaders to talk about inspiration, breakthroughs, and transformation. YPO Innovation Week is designed for YPO leaders who are responsible for vision, strategy, information, and technology and are charged with driving innovation across industries and sectors.


For Innovation Week 2017, YPO sought to incorporate a single solution, turnkey virtual component that complimented their dispersed global events, provided a value-add to members incapable of participating in-person, and brought international attention to the organization, its members and offerings. Innovation Week is a signature event and staple of the YPO brand, meaning this virtual component had to be the highlight of YPO’s focus on innovation while also adhering to the overall importance and quality of the global networking events. YPO also needed to be sure that calendars and schedules for presenting experts as well as the other stakeholders—from their own board members to administrative players within the organization— were properly managed in order to properly execute the event.


Geniecast stepped in to provide production, content, and services as a complete and all-encompassing solution that ensured every possible risk was mitigated on both the technical side as well as the people side. They facilitated a virtual moderator from San Francisco, CNBC’s Kate Rogers; they produced virtual presentations from thought leaders such as venture capitalist Brad Feld and business innovation expert Peter Sheahan; and they went above and beyond to send a camera person to Washington, DC for the premiere presentation of the week, an interactive discussion with America Online cofounder and Third Wave author, Steve Case. Geniecast handle all coordination, attendee registrations and reports, ran a top-tier production including motion graphics, attendee interface and moderation, utilized live streaming for members who were unable to participate in the capacity interactive Casts, and ensured all principals’ equipment and connections were checked and ready for each presentation ahead of time.


Geniecast successfully navigated the daunting tasks of producing high-quality virtual events alongside in-person events in order to increase engagement and access among globally-dispersed presenters and audience members. By utilizing Geniecast, YPO further demonstrated their passion for innovation and the evolution of their brand and member offerings with attendance for these presentations increasing by two and threefold over the previous year. “Phenomenal job by the Geniecast team,” said Greg Hill, Business Network Director for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at YPO. “(We were) so impressed by your collaboration and professionalism.
